St John Ambulance Group Driffield
St John Ambulance East Riding are currently looking to take on more Badgers and Cadets at their group in Driffield. This is a wonderful opportunity for young people to learn a wide range of new skills including lifesaving first aid.

They meet once a week on Wednesdays where they have an exciting programme for Badgers aged 5-10 and Cadets aged 10-18, as well as first aid, games, and crafts. They have a whole range of subjects from Global Badger to Performance Badger, for Badgers to complete on their journey to achieving their Super Badger Award. The Cadets also cover a wide range of topics working towards their Grand Prior award from casualty simulation to ambulance awareness.
Visit www.sja.org.uk/badgers or email Lydia.Holden@sja.org.uk to find out more!

Timmy the caterpillar
During our first guided reading lesson outdoors this year, a caterpillar crawled across one of our books. We decided to adopt the caterpillar and watch the cocooning process. Last week, after a long autumn term of metamorphosis, Timmy the caterpillar reappeared as a Tussock Moth! 5L held a goodbye ceremony and watched him fly back into the wild. They have loved checking on him daily and learning about this important natural process.

Football Match V Howden Match Report

Football Match V Howden Match Report
Last night saw our Y6 Football Team play Howden Junior School in the first round of the Humberside Schools U11 Knock- Out Cup.

In near baltic conditions, DJS emerged victorious, winning 2-0.  A result that sees them progress into the next round.

The first half saw both teams play good passing games but DJS had most of the possession and were on top as they had the wind behind them.  A good goal, mid way through the first half, saw DJS go into the break with a 1-0 lead.

The second half saw a different proposition, with DJS playing into a stiff north easterly that Michael Fish couldn't have predicted!  Howden put DJS under pressure for the next fifteen minutes.  However, a break away goal put the team 2-0 up and panic set in with the opposition.  Driffield bombarded the Howden goal for the final few minutes but the score remained 2-0.

Well done to all the boys who played.  Many thanks to Mr Wilkinson, with a fine performance refereeing the game, which was played with great sportsmanship.  Finally, thank you to the parents for their support.  I am sure the boys appreciated it.

Next week, weather permitting, our Girls Football Team and Y5 Football Team both have visits to schools in Hull in their own competitions.
