Football Tournament Results
Last night, saw our first sporting event of the school year, with our annual Football Tournament on the Driffield School/Leisure Centre astro.

Nine schools/teams entered, with each team playing against each other in a round robin event.

Surprisingly, the sun shone and the temperature remained in the early teens, unlike previous arctic conditions normally experienced at this time of year!

There was some great football on show, with several individuals from various schools showing great skill and sportsmanship on the pitch.

In the end, Nafferton Primary School emerged triumphant, winning 7 out of eight of their games.  They will now progress to the East Riding Large Schools Final to be held at Holderness Academy on Wednesday 15th October.

Driffield Junior School finished a close second, finishing unbeaten on the night but winning 6 and drawing 2 of their games.

Hutton Cranswick, who finished third, and played some excellent football during the evening, progress to the East Riding Small Schools Final to be held at Bridlington School on Tuesday 14th October.

From everybody at the DSSP, we with both these schools all the success they deserve in the ER Finals.

The final positions were:

Nafferton  - 22 points
DJS - 20 points
Hutton Cranswick - 19 points
Kilham - 15 points
Burton Agnes - 10 points
Garton - 7 points
North Frodingham - 6 points
WASPS - 3 points
Wolds Federation - 2 points

Many thanks to all the teachers/staff who gave up their precious time tonight, to both run their teams and to help referee the matches.

Also, a big thanks to all the children who took part, as well as the parents/carers/grandparents and siblings for their support.

Finally, a big thank you to Driffield & Wolds Weekly for recently sponsoring the DSSP and allowing us to purchase some new trophies.   Hopefully, pictures and a report will appear in the paper over the coming weeks.

Next Wednesday sees our Girls Only Football Tournament, with the winners progressing to the East Riding Final in Early November - Brrrrrrrrr!

Regards

Rocksteady Assembly
Everyone had an amazing time finding out how to be in a rock band this week. Year 3 were blown away by the demonstration to the whole school from Rocksteady and lots of children have been motivated to join the various music groups and clubs that we offer. All the adults were impressed by their enthusiastic singing and clapping to the rhythms. Watch this space for news of further concerts and some epic air guitaring!

Owl Visitor

Year 3 were lucky enough to have a visit from some feathered friends. Owls joined us in the school garden. We were introduced to Bowie the Barn Owl. Got to let him rest on our gloved hand and even got to stroke his fluffy feathers. With a bit of encouragement, and some tasty looking (to him) meat, he showed off his flying skills across the garden. We then got to meet and hold a Hawk. Finally, the brave teachers held an Eagle owl.
